Gynaecologists cleared of wrongdoing after death of patient

    Two gynaecologists accused of a catalogue of errors that led to the death of a woman after a hysterectomy were cleared last week of any clinical wrongdoing by the General Medical Council.

    Professor Stuart Campbell and Mr Christoph Lees, both consultants in obstetrics and gynaecology, were also cleared of failing to obtain fully informed consent from Mrs Monica Crockett, 67,\who died in September 1997 at St George's Hospital, London, after undergoing surgery for an ovarian cyst.
