Though our corporation manufactures carbohydrate-enhanced powdered
and gel products for athletes to consume during competitive endurance
events, we continue to recommend limiting carbohydrate volume intake to
that which the body is able to tolerate. During high blood sugar turnover
imposed during repetitive exercise, exogenous intake of carbohydrates
returns only 4.0-4.6 calories per minute to distal working musculature
whose aerobic expense rate may be as high as 15 calories per minute.
Neither can the body return exogenous fluids or electrolytes at the same
extreme rate it loses them during prolonged exercise. This observed
phenomenom then presents a principle for controlling apetite when meal
volume may lead to excess. To chronically satiate the appetite for sugars
may invite internal stress upon important organs such as the pancreas
which may provoke a life-threatening disease. Limiting carbohydrate fuel
repletion to tolerance levels is suggested.
My competing interests are hereby qualified to consume only complex
whole food carbohydrates during sedentary meals. Limiting the volume of
carbohydrates to maintain body weight is advised. During exercise high
glycemic carbohydrates may be consumed, but at no more than 240-276
calories per hour in divided dose.
It is encouraging to see indications of notice toward food
related etiology. General medical practice that shows little
or no comprehension of these issues wastefully aborts
precious resource potential extant among their patient
populations. While indeed life as a whole is a mystery we
can learn to recognize in the garden of our foods ways of
health creation and happier lives.
