The fourth novel featuring forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan has an explosive start: Air TransSouth, flight 228, crashes inexplicably in the North Carolina mountains en route from Atlanta to Washington, DC. All 88 people on board, including the entire University of Georgia soccer team, are killed. Bodies and possessions are scattered over a remote crash site, which is virtually inaccessible by road.
