Rapid responses are electronic letters to the editor. They enable our users to debate issues raised in articles published on thebmj.com. Although a selection of rapid responses will be included online and in print as readers' letters, their first appearance online means that they are published articles. If you need the url (web address) of an individual response, perhaps for citation purposes, simply click on the response headline and copy the url from the browser window. Letters are indexed in PubMed.
I congratulate Professor Campbell on his excellent paper about new
technics for internal saphenous vein ablation. There is no doubt that the
patients expect something better in addition to the stripping.
Unfortunately there are not enough specialists to provide day to day
echodoppler and mapping of varicous veins permiting an hemodynamic
evaluation. With this evaluation we can do a conservative treatment
without internal saphenous vein destruction. This hemodynamic treatment
(CHIVA)is possible and at present is done with excellent results by a lot
of teams in Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and others. Why nobody
writes about this technic.
