Two exhausted cyclists from Burkina Faso take a rest at the end of the Tour du Faso, Africa's greatest cycle race. The picture is one in an exhibition of photographs of people from the developing world, organised by VSO (an international development charity that works through volunteers).

Called “Seen/Unseen,” the collection of images from Panos Pictures aims to challenge the stereotypical image that people have of poor countries and raise awareness and understanding of international development. It coincides with the television broadcasting of VSO: Making a Difference, a six part series on ITV that began earlier this month.

The exhibition, which is at the Jerwood Space, Union Street, south east London, opens on Friday 25 January.
