CORRECTION (10 Jan 2002)
The last sentence of this article has been corrected on the website to read: "For most healthy individuals, however, for whom the risk of a vascular event is likely to be substantially less than 1% a year, daily aspirin may well be inappropriate."
The online text therefore differs from the text that appears in the paper journal [which incorrectly ended "...may well be appropriate."]
