    EDITOR—Schwarz et al showed that most outpatients (92/117; 79%) with acute deep vein thrombosis do not require hospital admission.1 A colleague and I found a similar proportion eligible for outpatient treatment among adults attending an emergency department who were diagnosed ultrasonographically as having deep vein thrombosis (178/219; 81%).2 We showed equal effectiveness and safety compared with outcomes in preceding years.
