The treatment of infertility on the NHS is to be overhauled, with the prospect of equal access to all, irrespective of where they live. The health secretary, Alan Milburn, has instructed the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) to provide national guidance to speed up access to infertility treatment and bring to an end the current “postcode lottery” that faces thousands of couples every year.
