US federally funded groups will be allowed to promote abortion

Last week the Congressional Republicans in the United States agreed to remove the legal restrictions preventing private family planning groups that receive federal funds from using their own money to provide abortions or promote abortion rights (the so-called “gag rule”). Any group that had refused to adhere to this policy could only receive American aid if it obtained a waiver from the president.
