People with special needs entitled to free education after 18, Irish court rules

    The Irish High Court has ruled that the state must provide free primary education for severely mentally handicapped, autistic, and other people with special needs beyond the age of 18 and for as long as they may benefit from it.

    The landmark decision has significant financial implications, and the judge noted that hundreds of similar claims are outstanding, with many more likely if the current situation persists.
