The UK health secretary has set out a package of reforms, which he believes will put nurses atthe centre of the modernisation of the NHS.
Speaking at the Royal College of Nursing's annual congress last week, Alan Milburn said that he wanted a health service that “liberates nurses not limits them,” and because the NHS was patient centred it was also nurse centred. A dozen nurses would be working on the teams set up to tackle the challenges set by the prime minister (1 April, p 889).
