Paediatricians “close to despair” over child protection laws

The Children Act is failing to protect children from severe abuse and neglect, according to a new study. This finding comes a week after the north Wales abuse tribunal's report showed the huge scale of suffering endured by children in care over more than 20 years. The study says that doctors specialising in child protection are near to despair over the effects of the 1990 act.
