Data supplement
- Sample size
Our sample of 161 provides 89% power, at the two sided 5% level, to detect a difference of 2.0 points on the hospital anxiety and depression scale, based on a standard deviation of 4.0. This standard deviation was based on data from a similar patient population.1 A difference of two points on the hospital anxiety and depression scale was the minimum considered clinically significant.
