A culture of openness is one of the key tools in managing organisational stress levels, according to a recent review (Health Service Manager Briefing 1999;48:3-5). Managers have a responsibility to assess the risk, take complaints of stress seriously, and ensure that staff have the skills needed to competently and confidently fulfil their role.
