  • Professionals of all kinds are usually recruited through advertisements in their specialist journals; doctors are no exception. A review of recruitment methods in the Employee Development Bulletin (1999;115:6-20) suggests that this is an effective way to proceed. Only a minority of employers use the internet even to recruit new graduates, the group assumed to be most at ease with the technology. There may be a little way to go before the medium is understood: most wanted recruitment to happen through their corporate website, though the review points out that this is “the electronic equivalent of posting a notice on the factory gate.”
