    EDITOR—According to the General Medical Council, the object of revalidation is to establish the principle that “to maintain their registration, all doctors must be able to demonstrate regularly that they continue to be fit to practise in their chosen field.”1 In theory, revalidation has much to commend it, but the GMC's proposals for its implementation are flawed.
