US passes bill protecting low income nursing home patients

Earlier this month, the US House of Representatives passed a bill which bars nursing homes from evicting Medicaid patients, who are generally less profitable for the homes than those who pay privately.
The bill was sponsored by representative Jim Davis of Florida and cosponsored by 60 members of Congress, including almost the entire delegation from Florida. The bill does not force nursing homes to remain in Medicaid, and they may …
