Dr Greg Warren of the Western Australian Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine (gregdown{at} points out that it is important to have a sponsor whether you need temporary or permanent residence, that there are mechanisms for converting temporary residence to permanent, and that doctors on a temporary permit are not summarily ejected from the country.
