Methadone treatment increases in EU

Over 200 000 people in the European Union receive methadone treatment for drug addiction, a threefold increase over the past three years.
The figures, which come from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, show that the practice is most widely used in Italy, where methadone is prescribed to 50 000 people. In France, which has permitted …
