Radiotherapy plus chemotherapy is best for breast cancer

    Women with breast cancer who are treated with adjuvant chemotherapy survive significantly longer if they also receive radiation treatment, according to the 15 year results from two prospective, randomised controlled trials.

    The two trials from Denmark and Canada examined whether the addition of radiation treatment to the chest wall and regional lymph nodes increased survival in premenopausal women who underwent modified radical mastectomy and received adjuvant chemotherapy.
