Bullying at work is a common problem-an Institute of Personnel and Development survey conducted last year found that one in eight people has been bullied at work within the last five years. Such harassment, says an institute fact sheet which aims to help employers identify and and investigate bullying, “extracts a high price from both employees and employers alike.” Intimidation can lead to illness, absenteeism, apparent lack of commitment, poor performance, and resignation.
