Risk of lung cancer needs to be studied in younger patients who keep pet birds

Editor—The prevalence of pet birds and of lung cancer differs between the Netherlands and Sweden. Mortality from lung cancer is much higher in the Netherlands than in Sweden—even higher than that in the United States. Compared with Sweden, the Netherlands has a higher percentage of people who breed birds and a higher concentration of the international bird trade.
