EDITOR,—Rollo Clifford comments that the prevalence of peanut allergy in the siblings of subjects with peanut allergy is unsurprising, considering the rates of parental atopy. Our conclusion simply stated that this “probably reflects similar early exposure of offspring of atopic parents to peanuts.” Information about cousins would have been unreliable compared with that about the presenting family. The rate of proved peanut allergy in the siblings of our subjects (3/39 (8%)) is significantly higher than that in the general population1 …
