NHS overhauls funding of medical education

A radical overhaul in the funding of medical education in England, based on a system of local purchasing, has been drawn up by the NHS Executive. One aim would be to identify and fund the real costs of training, including consultants' time but deducting the estimated service contribution of junior doctors.
