British government tops up thalidomide victims' trust: The government is to give a final payment of £7m to the Thalidomide Trust, set up in 1973 to help victims of the thalidomide tragedy. The payment is to supplement the additional £37.5m promised last year by the Guinness Group, successors to the drug's original marketer, the Distillers Company.
