    EDITOR,—A P Davie and colleagues' study suggests that a normal electrocardiogram virtually excludes chronic heart failure due to left ventricular systolic dysfunction.1 The study was performed in a general practice setting in patients with chronic, stable heart failure who were referred to an open access echocardiography service.
