China tightens up traditional Chinese medicine courses

China is tightening supervision of traditional Chinese medicine and pharmacology courses for foreigners and will stop institutions from granting advanced training certificates to non-medically trained students.
Zhang Wenkang, the deputy minister of public health and the director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that the new regulations were necessary to maintain the reputation and promote the “wholesome development” of education about Chinese medicine, which includes Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, and moxibustion.
