NHS managers to go in new purge by Dorrell

Several thousand NHS managers on salaries of more than £20000 ($30000) a year will be victims of a bureaucratic purge signalled by health secretary Stephen Dorrell last week. He declined to say how many jobs would be lost but put the cost saving at £130m ($195m), which implies that about 6000 managerial jobs could disappear in 1996-7.
