    I was raised as a Catholic; so although I'm now searching for my own truths, and although I see more and more the pernicious effects of organised religion, I do retain some affection for the church of my forefathers, and it gives me no satisfaction to observe the scandal which is sweeping Ireland.

    New reports of child sex abuse by priests are occurring almost daily. We shouldn't really be surprised; people wishing for that kind of life are very different from the rest of us to begin with.
