Undernotification of whooping cough

EDITOR,—Dougls Jenkinson is to be commended for his painstaking documentation of whooping cough in general practice.1 He points out that the incidence observed in his practice between 1977 and 1992 was six times the rate of notifications in England and Wales over the same period and highlights an appreciable number of cases among adults. This prompted me to examine notification data on whooping cough in Cardiff.
