French orthopaedic surgeons charged with fraud

Public prosecutors in several French cities have charged a dozen orthopaedic surgeons with overpricing knee prostheses and receiving kickbacks from producers or importers of the devices. More than 100 surgeons may have been involved in an alleged swindle that may have cost the social security's health insurance branch about Fr100m (pounds sterling12m) over three years.
