BMJ announces extension of exclusive sales partnership with USACO in Japan for a further 3 years

USACO remains the exclusive agent for institutional sales of a range of BMJ's resources across Japan.

BMJ, one of the world's leading medical knowledge providers, has extended an exclusive agreement with USACO Corporation to sell BMJ resources to institutional customers in Japan.

The resources will help to support the needs of medical researchers, educators and healthcare professionals with open access, clinical decision support and educational resources. These include non-journal products, such as BMJ Best Practice, BMJ Learning, BMJ Research to Publication, BMJ OnExamination, BMJ Open Access Membership, and journal resources, such as BMJ Journal Collections, BMJ Case Reports, and negotiated online journals subscriptions.

Commenting on the partnership extension, Tony Hilker, Commercial Director - APAC, BMJ, said: "BMJ is delighted to retain USACO as our exclusive institutional sales agent for BMJ tools and resources in Japan."

He added: "The Japanese healthcare system puts a high priority on preventative care instead of reactive care, so both the medical education and healthcare segments are important markets for BMJ. Japan is a vital contributor to BMJ content and product initiatives such as the recent integration of case reports with BMJ Best Practice, providing access to thousands of rare and unusual clinical cases from around the world.

We are confident that with USACO's in-depth understanding of the market needs and excellent long-standing relationships with local institutions, they are the right partner to help us engage key stakeholders and improve access to high quality BMJ content which ultimately leads to improved patient outcomes and care.

We look forward to continuing with this relationship that makes it possible to disseminate world-leading BMJ content to the medical market in Japan."

Shinichi Yamakawa, President & CEO at USACO, said: "We are pleased to continue our relationship with BMJ. Over the past three years, we have seen evidence of the positive benefits and impact of BMJ knowledge resources on the healthcare sector. They fill a critical need in helping Japanese users discover the best medical knowledge resources - and we look forward to continuing with the work we have achieved to date."
