Glen Campbell

Managing Director - BMJ The Americas

Glen joined the company in 2013 as Managing Director for BMJ The Americas. He brought more than 34 years Science Technology Medicine publishing experience to this role, having worked for major organizations such as Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, and Liss.

His vast experience includes having responsibility for setting strategies for the growth and development of biomedical journals, overseeing more than 400 journals in the health sciences, including The Lancet, and many premier society journals.

Glen serves on the American Medical Publishers Committee (AMPC) of the PSP and the AMPA/National Library of Medicine Subcommittee of that group. He is Chair of Board of Directors of the Friends of the National Library of Medicine, and past Chair of the Executive Council of the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division (PSP) of the Association of American Publishers (AAP).

Cheryl Shechtman

Business Manager

Cheryl joined BMJ Americas in October 2014 as Business Manager. Prior to joining BMJ, Cheryl worked in publishing for over 20 years in Product Marketing and Product Management roles. Cheryl has worked in a number of different publishing areas including book, legal and financial for companies such as Penguin Putnam, American Lawyer and Thomson Financial. Cheryl has an MBA in Marketing from Fordham University and a BA in English Literature from the University of Michigan.

Joseph Douress

Marketing & Sales Director

Joe Douress joined BMJ Americas in May 2014 as Director of Marketing, Sales & Customer Engagement. He builds high performing, passionate teams that are focused on delivering demonstrable and sustainable value to customers. Prior to joining BMJ, Joe held senior roles with Dun & Bradstreet, LexisNexis, and Elsevier Health Sciences. While at LexisNexis, he developed Board Certified Docs ( https://www.boardcertifieddocs.com ) in partnership with the American Board of Medical Specialties. Joe is the founder of The Heroes Tournament, which has donated $500,000 to benefit children with cancer. He earned a BA with honors from William Paterson University and attended graduate school at Rider University. He and his wife, Maureen, have four children.

Kathleen P. Lyons

Publisher

Kathy joined BMJ Americas in 2017 as Publisher for the Americas' journals program. She has been in publishing for 30 years, managing and developing society and proprietary journals and books in clinical medicine and the biomedical sciences. Prior to joining BMJ, she worked across a variety of STM publishers, including Nature Publishing Group, Springer, and Thieme.

Joe brings valuable insight and dynamic leadership skills to our business as we expand our activities in the US. His ability to translate vision into action will add to our success and realize our full potential within the US health sector.

He has proven success in developing and launching new products and increasing market share in the information services and publishing industry.

Previously, as senior VP of Global Marketing and Sales Development at Elsevier Medical Research, Joe led a strategic marketing program that transformed revenues in the global hospital sector. As the General Manger of the Small Law segment at LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, he led the team that propelled lawyers.com to the top lawyer search site on the web.

Joe is former editor and publisher of Dun & Bradstreet’s Exporters’ Encyclopaedia and has also co-authored best-selling global marketing books published by Prentice-Hall. He serves on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations and is the founder of a charity that benefits seriously ill children.

Patrick Spencer

Chief Operating Officer

Patrick joined the BMJ Board as Finance Director in 2004. As well as his financial responsibilities, Patrick oversees the legal, risk and project management functions.


In 2013, he became Chief Operating Officer and took on additional responsibility for the BMJ’s growing businesses in the US and India.

Prior to his time with BMJ he held various financial roles within international companies, most recently as Divisional Finance Director at De La Rue plc. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in 1993 and has a degree in mathematics.

Alex Ritchie

Finance Director

As a member of the Board, Alex is responsible for all aspects of BMJ's finances and risk management, including international subsidiaries in the US, Chinese and Indian markets.
Previously, his role as Assistant Finance Director role broadened into Head of Finance in 2013. Before joining BMJ in 2009, Alex worked at News International and lastminute.com.
