Bespoke published supplements and collections

Our collections are articles drawing attention to key priorities, neglected issues or needed debates within various global health and medicine areas.

They are often developed in collaboration between BMJ and other international organisations – to create impact, generate value, and influence policy and decision-makers in health.

More than a set of influential and topic-focused papers, our collection programmes support our vision to create a healthier world by improving the health, well-being, and equity of people and the planet.

Their lasting impact is further cemented through our dedicated partnerships with leading academic, bilateral, multilateral, and non-governmental organisations who share our passion for the pursuit of improving global health.

Typically, a collection will include eight pieces:

  • Two analysis articles
  • Five research pieces
  • One editorial authored by a leading authority within a particular specialty

Regional policy dialogue series

BMJ can produce a series of interactive, virtual policy dialogues to effectively target your organisation’s high-priority regions.

Our role is to facilitate the proper dialogues by convening multidisciplinary stakeholders to discuss the insights generated by the collection and consider how a multi-sectoral approach can be applied to action these insights in each region.

These interactive policy dialogues work by engaging diverse stakeholders in the collection to apply their insights, and provide a forum to discuss how to apply them across each region.

  • Addressing research, multisectoral collaboration, health services, and policy gaps
  • Increasing investment in each region
  • Building momentum towards the launch of a formalised council or working group

Our supplements section partners with intergovernmental and non-governmental organisations, from the World Health Organization, UNICEF, to funders such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to curate themed supplements and broaden the scope of how research is disseminated.

Empowering governments to strengthen health systems

Over 150,000 clinical articles are published every month but only a small percentage are from lower- to middle-income countries. Health professionals can struggle to get published and keep up with the latest in evidence-based medicine.

We provide governments with the technical expertise and international best practices they need to build workable and rigorous accreditation and research systems. Together, we work to improve health outcomes.
