We have a substantive vacancy for a Consultant Cardiac Surgeon.

You would be joining a dynamic team of six Cardiothoracic Surgeons in delivering secondary cardiothoracic services for the Wolverhampton population, and tertiary Cardiothoracic services for the Black Country and surrounds. The Unit has just been commended for achieving the highest NICOR survival rate for adult cardiac surgery of any NHS unit in the UK 2013-16 

The successful application will be part of a 1:6 24/7 cardiothoracic on-call rota serving a population in excess of one million.  We are looking for an applicant who is keen to work as an adult cardiac surgeon. 

Our facilities comprise 3 dedicated cardiothoracic theatres with 14 dedicated cardiac ITU beds and a 31 bed cardiothoracic ward. In addition the Centre has 3 Catheter Laboratories and a dedicated Pacing Suite supported by a 16-bed Day Ward and a 37-bed Cardiology Ward.

The successful candidate must have full GMC registration and must have or be within 6 months of CCT or equivalent at the date of interview. This post will be offered in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Service (England) for the new Consultant contract.
