Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine

Duration: up to 6 months

Based at Ybysty Ystrad Fawr in Caerphilly, (or other ABUHB sites as required) 

 Full Time or Part Time considered

The Palliative Care Directorate in the Primary Care and Community Division of ABUHB is currently undergoing some exciting changes and developments, in partnership with our third sector providers. We are looking for a locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine who will be responsible for the effective and appropriate medical care of patients in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr, working in collaboration with the multidisciplinary hospice team. You will also lead consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings. The post holder may occasionally be expected to provide cover at other hospitals, including the Royal Gwent Hospital, Nevill Hall Hospital, and St David’s Hospice Care Inpatient Unit. The post holder will also be expected to provide prospective cover for colleagues.

The multidisciplinary team includes consultants in palliative medicine, a specialty doctor, nursing staff, clinical nurse specialists, social worker, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, complementary therapist, pastoral care, volunteers and administrative support.

Free parking is available across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Sites.

This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:
