Consultant Physician in Elderly Medicine
Here at Salisbury District Hospital we are expanding our consultant workforce in our Department of Medicine for the Elderly.
We’re looking for dynamic individuals who want to join us with their ideas and enthusiasm, as well as a passion for providing excellent clinical care to older people. The successful candidate will contribute towards providing comprehensive and integrated care for elderly patients through the medical service, the Older Persons Assessment and Liaison service and locality-based community services.
The service currently provides specialist elderly care services for Acute Frailty, Stroke, Falls, Ortho-geriatrics and Movement Disorders. It also provides community services in and around Salisbury as well as services in local community hospitals.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of developing a new integrated geriatric service for South Wiltshire and the surrounding area. We are looking to develop new areas of working so candidates with special interests will be accommodated and supported as much as possible. The post holder will have opportunities to work across both the community and acute hospital setting and will be involved in further developing the delivery of services at the front door.
We have a strong focus upon team working and the development of excellent working relationships across all our departments. We believe that we provide a friendly, supportive and dynamic working environment.
Voted by the Sunday Times as the best place to live in Britain, Salisbury is an attractive place to live and work and really gives you the best of everything. With easy access to London and local airports, Salisbury also has one of the 31 UNESCO world heritage sites in the UK in the form of Stonehenge and in addition boasts a number of museums and famous landmarks which are well worth a visit. Alternatively, the city of Southampton is only a short train or car journey away or if you prefer the sea, Bournemouth is also accessible.
Applicants must be on the specialist register or have a CCT date within 6 months of the interview date.
The posts are full time (10 PA) with an expectation of participation in the general medical on call rota which is currently a 1 in 12 rolling rota (1 in 6 at weekends) but this will be subject to review. Although the position is full time, less than full time or flexible working would also be welcomed.
