Consultant Anaesthetist with Specialist Interest in Pain Medicine

The Trust has developed proposals for the next exciting phase in its development. Over the next five years we will centralise care at our Trust in two specialist centres - an emergency care centre with a dedicated paediatric unit in Calderdale, and a specialist centre for planned care alongside our new Acre Mills Outpatient Centre in Huddersfield. The Trust is recruiting a Consultant Anaesthetist with an interest in Pain Medicine to undertake sessions at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Pain procedural lists are undertaken on the CRH site, and clinics on both sites. The appointed consultant will participate in the General Anaesthetist on-call rota at HRI. At CRH there are nine operating theatres with a central PACU, while on the Huddersfield site there are six theatres with a central PACU which forms the main theatre suite. In addition there are a further three theatres located in a purpose-built self-contained Day Surgery Unit.

Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee. Applicants must continue to hold a License to Practice.

You may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £47.50 or Standard £29.50) from your salary when you commence in post (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
