Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics - Pelvic and Trauma
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to take the pelvic and acetabular tertiary referral service forward with the existing two consultants.
We receive over 100 referrals from around the region and operate on 40 to 50 of these patients annually. Most of the operating is done the one of the two surgeons. The second consultant provides advice, and is currently performing combined operations. The successful candidate will be well supported with combined operating lists from the outset if they so desire. The service is linked to the major trauma service all the way through the patients’ journey as they are followed up in a dedicated Major Trauma clinic for Pelvic injuries with a specialist physiotherapist working alongside the team.
The service will also be taking part in multi-centre trials related to pelvic and acetabular injuries eg L1FE etc.
The department will also look upon favourably if the successful person can participate in Hip Revision Arthroplasty to compliment Pelvic and Acetabular practice. Fellowship training in both these areas would therefore be desirable.
The successful candidate will join the trauma 1:16 on call rota and the major trauma rota 1:12. The second rota only runs during the morning hours to provide MDT, ward round cover, and multi-disciplinary liaison activities.
