Consultant in General Paediatrics (Respiratory Interest)
The department requires a general paediatric consultant with an interest in paediatric respiratory medicine. Based mainly in BNHH but providing some cross site cover for CF patients, the role will provide expertise in respiratory paediatrics working with the multi-disciplinary team to provide continuity of care for patients with cystic fibrosis and other complex respiratory conditions. There is an opportunity to provide support to the allergy service depending on expertise. Direct Clinical Care activities will also include consultant covering admissions and the general ward, on call including cover for level 2 neonatal unit as well as contributing to the recently developed paediatric areas within the emergency department.
As with all new paediatric consultants there will be a requirement to do a small number of resident night shifts to support the middle grade rota. The need has arisen due to a reduction in hours and approaching retirement of the current paediatrician leading this service in BNH.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a large team of paediatric consultants serving one of the largest populations of children in the Wessex Region. This post has arisen due to the retirement of a senior paediatrician.
