Consultant Imaging Cardiologist
Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust would like to invite applications for two new substantive consultant posts in Cardiovascular Imaging (one new post and one replacement position), to join the existing team of eight Cardiologists providing acute and out-patient care to the population of Northamptonshire and surrounding regions. Sub-specialism in Cardiovascular MRI is an essential requirement and experience in another area is desirable.
The Department of Cardiology at Kettering General Hospital is committed to providing high quality, patient centred care and it is expected the successful candidate will be an exceptional and highly motivated individual, working with a similar ethos. The post-holder will participate in the General Cardiology rota at the Trust. There is no commitment to General Medicine.
Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust houses approx 630 beds and provides acute and elective services to approximately 400,000 people. Since becoming a Foundation Trust in 2008, the hospital has embarked on a programme of progressive development and innovation, including: a £4.7m Cardiac Centre and a 24/7 Regional Emergency service for people having heart attacks, a £30m extension to the main hospital block, including a new 12 bed Coronary Care Unit, 16 bed cardiac ward and advanced 16 bed Intensive Care Unit. Reconfiguration of urgent care, including relocation of Cardiology to a purpose built unit (12 bed Coronary Care Unit + 16 step down beds), has been integral to enabling these improvements.
The post-holder will be joining a dynamic and cohesive team of eight Cardiologists, and will enjoy the use of state-of-the-art facilities at Kettering General Hospital. The Kettering General Hospital Department of Cardiology provides comprehensive cardiac services including basic and complex imaging (including trans-oesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, coronary CT and specialised commissioned cardiac MRI service), acute and elective coronary intervention, and device therapy (PPM, ICD, CRT-P, CRT-D).
Kettering is centrally located – London is less than 1 hour by rail and Kettering to Paris via Eurostar is 3 hours. By road, Kettering is within easy reach of 5 international airports and 75% of the country can be reached within 2 hours
The area offers everything from traditional market towns to charming villages and picturesque countryside. The town has excellent and expanding educational facilities.
