We are developing a 60 bedded dedicated Critical Care Centre to transform the management of our patients.  Our new Critical Care unit will be like no other, with a high quality environment and state of the art equipment.  It will also be a hub for managing critical illness beyond the Trust, accepting patients from specialty networks covering South East England, the UK and abroad. A full range of sub-specialty Critical Care is provided at King’s including Liver Critical Care, Cardiovascular including percutaneous LVAD, VA and specialty VV ECMO support, Neuro CC, Haemato-Oncology CC (designated CAR-T centre) and major trauma.  We are looking for a dynamic and driven clinician to become part of this team.  The current Critical Care bed pool covers 83 beds across 2 sites and will increase to approximately 110 beds once the New Critical Care centre is fully operational.

You will be joining a friendly and innovative team in a busy hospital serving one of the most diverse inner city populations with an unparalleled case mix. King’s is a key partner in one of London's foremost Academic Health Science Centres: Kings Health Partners (KHP).  King’s Health Partners is one of only 6 Department of Health-designated AHSCs in England. It brings together a world-leading research-led university – King’s College London – and 3 successful NHS Foundation Trusts: Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital and South London and Maudsley.  There is also an opportunity to work in our major trauma centre which is the major trauma centre for the South East London, Kent and Medway trauma network.

This is a dedicated Critical Care / ICM post with an approximately 1:5 on-call commitment and across the Denmark Hill and PRUH sites. On call work at the Denmark Hill site is alongside currently 4 other consultants, resident doctors for each critical care area, 2 senior fellows and a critical care outreach service with 24/7 registrar / fellow cover and daytime designated consultant support.

You must be fully registered with the GMC/GDC and hold Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent at interview stage.

The post holder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years) and therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
