We have an exciting opportunity to appoint two 8PAs Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. Part of our mission at GOSH is to integrate physical and mental health care in conjunction with providing tertiary level specialist mental health care for complex children. Each post will involve leading a specialist tertiary referral service within the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Each role will also involve contributing a specialist and general input to liaison psychiatry throughout the hospital – with at least a core element of the liaison related to the specialism of the post.

Position 1: 8PA Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with a special interest in autism and psychiatric aspects of Neurodisability. The Social Communications Disorders Team is a national specialist service assessing and treating children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders. There is increasingly close working with the Paediatric Neurodisability services. Two PA’s of the post will involve liaison psychiatry work in relation to children with Neurodevelopmental and Neuropsychiatric disorders especially in Neurology, Genetics, Metabolic Medicine, as well as general liaison psychiatry as needed.

Position 2: 8PA Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry to work in the Feeding and Eating Disorders Service (FEDS). This is a national specialist service assessing and treating children and adolescents with a wide range of feeding and eating difficulties. FEDS specialises primarily in Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), early onset complex Anorexia Nervosa (AN) or cases of AN with physical comorbidity, Rumination Disorder (RD), Pica and related presentations. The team works closely with referrers and with our psychiatric inpatient unit, which also treats Feeding and Eating Disorders. Two PA’s of the post will involve liaison psychiatry work with the gastroenterology service and with general liaison psychiatry as needed.

The post holders will be based in the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (DCAMH) at GOSH. This large department comprises clinical and research staff including psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers and nurses, supported by an administrative team.
