Consultant in Ophthalmology Medical Retina & Uveitis
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant post in Ophthalmology in Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust.
The Trust is seeking to appoint a consultant in ophthalmology who will lead the diabetic retinopathy service and work closely with the national diabetic retinopathy screening programme. The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary team of consultants who provide dedicated sub-speciality services in cornea, glaucoma, vitreo-retinal surgery, oculoplastics and orbital surgery, paediatric/strabismus, uveitis, and medical retina.
The department is well equipped with four Cirrus OCTs, Heidelberg Spectralis OCT with HRA and Topcon Triton plus. Both Heidelberg and Topcon machines are capable of performing OCT angiography as well as fluorescein and ICG angiographies. The retinal unit has access to Argon
Pascal laser and Aviso ultrasound machines. All clinics are run on Medisoft electronic patient record (EPR). All the ophthalmic images are networked through Ophthalsuite Blueworks and can be accessed from Medisoft throughout the county. The department has two operating theatres. One
with a modern ceiling mounted microscope, Constellation and Infiniti machines for anterior and posterior segment surgery in Truro. The other with floor mounted microscope and Infiniti Phaco machine for day case surgery in Penzance, West Cornwall.
