POST:                   Consultant General Surgeon - Special Interest in Upper GI or Day Case Surgery

BASE:                   Airedale NHS Foundation Trust

SALARY:              £79,860 - £107,668 pro rata per annum

HOURS:                10 PAs per week (including 1:7 on call)

An opportunity has arisen to expand the consultant body in the General Surgical division, this is for a substantive 10 PA General Surgery Consultant with a special interest in Upper GI or Day Case Surgery (including 1:7 on call). 

It will enable service continuity to provide high quality General Surgery at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the existing 6 Consultant General Surgeons.

Your employment as a doctor brings with it an obligation to engage with all the processes of revalidation, job planning and appraisal.  Please ensure when nominating references at the end of your application form that you include referee details for your current Medical Director or Clinical Director to comply with Trust requirements. 

Please be aware that we will also approach your current or most recent Responsible Officer for a reference.  If this information is not provided and you are shortlisted, the HR department will request this information from you prior to an interview.

Any offer of employment for this post will be subject to the Trust being satisfied that the result of an enhanced disclosure of criminal convictions, including checks for the Protection of Children/Vulnerable adults, does not indicate that you are unsuitable for the post.

If you are successful, as a condition of your employment you must provide us with your original DBS Disclosure Certificate prior to commencing in post as part of the pre-employment check process unless you are registered with the DBS Update Service in which case you can provide us with your surname, date of birth and certificate number to enable us to complete a status check.

If you are offered a position which requires you to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £44) from your first full months salary. This is a condition of your employment.

You are encouraged to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year.
