Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward thinking Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrists.

This post is part of an exciting expansion of CAMHS specialist services within HPFT, supported by NHS England’s innovative ‘Testing New Care Models in tertiary mental health services’ programme (Wave 2). Our newmodel of care for Tertiary Services was designed to transform local service provision in Hertfordshire by integrating the Tier 4 and Tier 3 CAMHS pathways, to ensure that young people across the county can access the services that meet their needs at the right time. We have been nominated for an HSJ award because of this work and are now also leading the regional development of New Care Models. The Trust offers an effective and consistent therapeutic approach, for young people experiencing a range of highly complex emotional, psychological or behavioural problems.

This rewarding and challenging role will involve working closely with expert colleagues from a range of disciplines to deliver a highly specialist service. This is an exciting opportunity for any candidate who wants to be part of an ambitious and energetic organisation and a high profile national programme, with a focus on empowering individuals and ensuring the very best clinical and individual recovery outcomes.

The Tier 4 provision includes our in-patient unit, Forest House Adolescent unit, as well as our new Home Treatment team. This new team has been running for over a year now and has successfully offered bespoke therapy packages to allow recovery at home and the avoidance of hospital admission. The post holder will act as a bridge between this team and our CAMHS Crisis and Assessment team. This is an important function as it will maximize the opportunity to treat young people in the community and will ensure that the Tier 4 service is responsive to community needs.
The post holder will be required to provide clinical and professional leadership within the post, and to take part in management activities related to it and the wider Trust.
The post holder will have an integral role in the performance of the team, further development of the service, and the development of clinical pathways.
Applicants must be fully registered medical practitioners and on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining their CCT, be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983, and have Approved Clinician status.
