Acute Medicine Registrar – Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Royal Hampshire County Hospital / Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

Role Description

The Acute Medical services at Royal Hampshire county hospital have undergone a transformation and currently have an Acute Medical Unit (AMU) incorporating Acute Frailty service and a dedicated Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU). There are further plans for expansion of the current Ambulatory care unit.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the AMU Consultants in the day to day work associated with the care of acute general medical inpatients and ambulatory care patients.

What we look for:

  • To attend and actively participate in Departmental and other teaching sessions
  • To assist with the teaching of undergraduate medical students attached to the firm and postgraduate junior doctors.
  • To review patients on the acute unselected “take” and presenting these patients on the intra-take and post take Consultant ward rounds.
