The Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from two hospital sites. We are a University Teaching Hospital with 1293 beds and an annual budget of £500 million. The Trust supports a variety of tertiary services and is both a Major Cancer Centre and Major Trauma Centre. We serve a local population of approximately 600,000 with some services aimed at an extended catchment area of 1.2 million people. The Trust now forms part of the Hull York Medical School with both the NHS sites and Universities of Hull and York. The Trust employs around 7000 staff and we are committed to the continuous development of services for the benefit of patients and to providing a comprehensive service of the highest possible quality.

The East Riding of Yorkshire is a very popular place to live. It extends to several well known East Coast resorts as well as containing the Yorkshire Wolds and Yorkshire Moors. Hull has been selected as the UK City of Culture 2017 which results in many exciting events planned. Hull is also a thriving university city with excellent shopping and leisure facilities including concert halls, theatres and the largest aquarium in Europe. It has excellent road and rail links with the rest of Britain, as well as ferry and air links to Europe. The cost of living is significantly lower than elsewhere in the country making it an excellent place to achieve a good work/life balance.

The Neurosurgical Department provides a regional elective and acute service across both sites of the Trust. Junior Clinical Fellows will be expected to provide neurosurgical ward, HOB and theatre cover on the Hull Royal Infirmary site, and will be on-call for acute admissions covered at all times by a Resident Middle Grade Neurosurgeon. Out of hours, the Neurosurgical Junior Clinical Fellows will also cover acute ENT referrals and admissions at Hull Royal Infirmary, with middle grade cover, but do not cover elective ENT adult inpatients.

Junior Clinical Fellows are encouraged to develop a training portfolio, including a logbook, and to take part in research, quality improvement and teaching opportunities.

Please note that shortlisting will be taking place before and after the closing date. For guarantees of an early interview please submit your application at the earliest opportunity.
