Job Details
Applications are invited for two Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist posts in Aberdeen. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing team of Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetists based at the Royal Aberdeen Children Hospital.The advertised posts are whole time equivalent replacement posts with 8 Direct Clinical Care programmed activities and 2 Supporting Programmed Activities.
Preliminary plans are in place to expand the service in order to support increasing demands, which will provide the opportunity for the successful applicants to take an active role in developing the sevice over the next few years.
Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital provides high quality, acute and comprehensive care for children up to the age of 16 years from the Grampian region in the north-east of Scotland, and from the Orkney and Shetland Islands. It is the the regional paediatric oncology provider, and is a Paediatric Major Trauma Centre.
Located in the North East of Scotland, Aberdeen is an affluent, friendly and vibrant city, combining all the amenities of a large city with easy access to spectacular surrounding countryside. This, along with excellent schools makes this an ideal base for those with families.
Aberdeen has a large Anaesthetic department which covers a comprehensive range of clinical services, and, as a teaching hospital department there is strong involvement in a wide range of educational activities. There are also many opportunities to develop research interests in collaboration with the local universities. Consequently, there is excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic appointee to develop interests in a wide choice of areas. It is possible for consultants to adapt their clinical duties over time to fit with their interests and for some aspects of the job plan to be changed on negotiation with the Clinical Director.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR).
