Applications are invited for a substantive consultant neonatal post in the Neonatal Department within Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be part of a dynamic team of 11 Neonatologists providing care for babies admitted to the Neonatal Unit and liaising closely with the maternity unit which has a delivery rate of around 8400 per year. There are a total of 41 cots comprising of 12 intensive care, 9 high dependency and 20 special care. Activity levels for ITU and HDU are high and this is one of the busiest units in the country with a complex and varied case mix. There is a separate Transitional Care ward for 12 mothers and up to 16 babies. The unit delivers greater than 4000 ITU/ HDU days per annum.
This post supports the services provided by the current Consultant group, and attracts 10 PAs. It includes 7.5 programmed activities (PA) of direct clinical care and 2.5 SPA (supporting professional activities and leadership roles to include Safeguarding and Transitional Care Lead roles).
The applicant should have CCT in Paediatrics (Neonatal) or CCT in Paediatrics with equivalent Neonatal experience. Those who are within 6 months of obtaining their CCT on the date of the AAC are eligible to apply but must provide evidence of their expected CCT date.
